ANCIENT WORLD by Willis Mason West?

I found this book and it is very old. Copy right 1904. The binding is messed up. But there is a swastika on the binding. Knowing the different meanings of this symbol I was just curious as to why the swastika was on the binding of this text book. It is in English and looks to be published in the US.
