Do fast neutrons when run through a neutron moderator like graphite produce heat as well as thermal neutrons?
If i run some high energy fast neutrons through graphite would the graphite heat up and turn the fast neutrons into thermal neutrons. If not then where is the energy from the fast neutron going when it gets converted into a thermal one?
